Microsoft has to cater to a gigantic pool of hardware. They have to ensure that their operating system works on everything it possibly can without issues. As such, they cannot optimize code specifically for certain configurations, as it may cause issues with other configurations, and is simply way too time-consuming.
That said, Aero is a pretty poor example of this. Seeing as it requires DirectX 9, it excludes a lot of older hardware that could otherwise run the operating system decently. Even with this exclusion. Aero's performance is poor with hardware that does support DirectX 9 or higher. Compiz runs rather faster and supports any hardware with OpenGL support (practically everything).
OS X is an interesting case since the same company makes both the hardware and the software. As such, they can cater to specific configurations as there is a much smaller number of them, and they are also the creators of these configurations. This is why Aqua on a GeForce 2 MX smokes Compiz on a GeForce 6200 or Aero on a GeForce 7800 GS. Apple (as well as Intel, AMD/ATI and NVIDIA since Apple has nice partnerships with these companies) can write specific optimizations for each Macintosh model supported by OS X, rather than writing general code like Microsoft and open source groups are forced to.
In the end, Compiz is my favourite though. Aero and Aqua don't offer any sort of user configuration other than base colour.

For the record, Aero ran fine on whatever card I have.

Nice Tyler, I understand it all now XD.
Also, Daryl, there are still slow-down issues, flip 3d cannot decide which window to display first, and windows don't move constantly at 120 fps.

You all fail so hard at grabbing ISPs by their balls. We went to Bell back when bandwidth was not restricted. They now have a 95 GB cap, but I am not subjected to it. I've made several calls threatening that I will immediately terminate the account without hesitation or consideration if they dare impose the cap. May was an intense month.

I find this strange seeing as though my IP address is shared throughout my home and that Rick hasn't been here for a week to download his porn. It'd've made sense if he were here, though I have no fucking idea how my internet usage shot up so quickly seeing as though I only downloaded a handful of MP3s from Nicosound last night and haven't downloaded much at all this month aside from like Stepmania stepfiles, more music, images and ef2 (anime). The file sizes for all of those are rather small.
At least I wasn't like torrenting Crysis like Kuildeep, rofl.

So apparently, I've reached 100% of my 60GB monthly usage according to Rick. He received an alert but strangely I did not get one.
$5 per 2GB extra usage my dick.

Comcast never did do anything about me breaking their 250 GB cap.

What was the point of the cap then?

Despite breaching my 60GB limit, that hasn't stopped me from raiding nicosound and downloading anime. Looks like I'm paying extra when the bill comes, rofl.

That's a pretty awful limit you have in place. 95 GB is reasonable when compared to 60 GB.

Yeah, it's pretty gay but you still managed to break that limit, rofl.
The only possible way for me to even reach that monthly usage is if I were to download several anime series which wouldn't be possible for me seeing as though I only have ~30GB left of free space on my 120GB hard drive unless I buy an external one. I know this guy on FFR that managed to fill his 500GB external hard drive with simply anime alone, rofl. Pretty intense.
