Alienware might have the performance, but you can buy equal or better parts for a third of the price.
Alienware is a fucking waste of a company.

Dell will be over "within the hour" to replace my motherboard/processor.
And, since it's relevant to your current conversation, I thought I'd mention that both Alienware and Dell are in running for The Consumerist's worst company of the year, out of a list of 100 companies. Comcast was winning by 20% last I checked, though.

It has worked.
When he took apart the computer, he noticed that the fan was unplugged. Looks like the guy from November was just as crappy as he seemed (He closed up my computer so part of a tape wire was sticking out, come on! ).
The processor probably got head damage or something, but point is now it and the fan work!
Only the processor was replaced, he did not change the motherboard.
He could've stuck around until after I was done testing, though, just in case it didn't work >_>
Also, he pronounces "World of Warcraft" as "Wow". Is that the normal way, or is it just me who says "Double you oh double you"?

"Wow" is most common.
Also, I have a feeling that the fan was entirely the issue. It would explain the incredibly conservative clock speeds you were getting, and the heat issues from "overclocking" to 2.0 GHz.

If the fan was the entire issue, why would it occur even after, say, idling at 1-2% for hours at a time, then suddenly spiking to 100% when I open a browser or start an IM? Surely the fan doesn't react that fast.

So some Windows Update has made my computer break again. It wouldn't start up after 11 updates it found. I ran the Windows Startup Repair utility for a few hours while I slept and it came on by the time I woke up, though, so the problem is actually probably just that the computer is taking untold hours to start up.
I am awaiting its next boot to System Restore it.

That's pretty awesome. Maybe you should try a downgrade to a copy of Windows XP if you have one and see if you experience problems with it.
