The icons on my desktop are all programs I use (excluding the games in the top right corner). I never place random files or folders on it, lol. Might need to clean it up soon since it's starting to get cluttered.

ef2 has won my fan base, okay. Didn't really like my Hatsune Miku wallpaper before. Minori's Naru Nanao's artwork is sexy. No other anime can compare to the beautiful drawings, scenery and animations of this anime series. I came to the artwork and animations. This wallpaper is rather basic and doesn't show much of what the anime's visuals are all about. As a Super Otaku myself and having watched over 200 animes in my life, I admit hands down Naru's artwork for animes such as ef, Da Capo and Sola are fucking beautiful. She really knows how to draw anime based on realism. Although her characters might look like any other anime drawings in the wallpaper I have set as my desktop or to a Non-Otaku, the artwork truly shines in the Visual Novel and anime series whether it's the character design, landscapes and sceneries and most definitely the fine details, contour, colours, etc. Also I would like to point out that the game openings for ef are unmatchable when compared to any other Visual Novel or H-Game. The first time I watched ef -The First tale's and ef -The Latter Tale's game openings, I thought I was watching a high quality anime movie (which sort of makes no sense seeing as though producers and anime companies tend to change artwork and animations to differ from the series). ef~a fairy tale of two~ Visual Novel opening ef-the latter tale- Visual Novel opening(There were extremely high quality audio and video ones uploaded onto YouTube however the uploader got them self banned so this will pretty much do for now although the audio in this vid absorbs dick. Also would like to mention that ef's OSTs are pretty good. Tenmon and Eiichiro Yanagi know how to compose music, lol.) You can not watch those VN openings and tell me that the artwork and animation absorbs. It is one of a kind and quite possibly the greatest visuals you'll ever see coming from an anime. As you interpreted, the majority of Naru's drawings are all based on realism and direct observation sketches. As a high degree Japanese artist who obviously has a university degree in visual arts as well as producing the artwork for several successful and amazing animes, this is the closest you can ever get with anime and realism. Also, she manages to remain very consistent with her drawings which is truly difficult to accomplish for most artists. For the most part, all the scenes in the series and visual novel are perfect. Although Naru does manage to achieve realism very well in anime, she is quite a successful abstract artist as well. For example, if you watch the opening videos for the anime series, they are very abstract yet effective. ef~a tale of memories~ openingef-a tale of melodies- openingIn summary, you can not look down upon the Naru's artwork unless you're able to achieve something of even greater degree than she has already accomplished. There are very few other anime artists that could match her character designs however it's not possible to top her beautiful scenery and details. The only anime that I can think of that could quite possibly match up to that would be 5 Centimeters Per Second's artist Takayo Nishimura who did a fantastic job creating and directing the artwork, however I'm not much of a fan on the character designs. The scenery and background however were orgasmic. //Otaku rant For the sake of humanity, don't make me go on for I will literally type a fucking giant essay with in depth examples and details when it comes to topics about anime and especially the artwork design and direction. I can keep going with this if I really wanted to. @nigdeep: And yeah, PhotoBucket is gay for resizing. Also icon layout is like that only because I was getting tired of the old cluttered in one corner layout. Also those icons were covering a lot of the wallpaper itself which kinda pissed me off.

I knew you'd tl;dr but I ranted anyways.
It's a shame that the only two people that would understand my rant would be Mohamdu and Lily. lol otakus and animes are serious business.
If you were to ask anyone else here about anime, they'd give you a simple minded, one line response as compared to in depth essays that say Mohamdu or I would type out. I could seriously go on with this.
But yeah, anyways lol desktops.

I'm not in a position to judge artwork, but I can say that those first two intros are almost entirely CG. The surrounding environments and props are all generated, meshed with vectored material, then composited with Shake or After Effects. Camera work, lens flares, 3D animation, shadowing, environments, all of it is done though a compositor. The characters are simply thrown into the composition. Few things are ever really drawn these days. That said, it's still very impressive. I have the technical capability to do that, but not the time, patience or artistic capacity. I'm going to get another essay now. No matter, I actually read a majority of the last one.

Don't feel like typing another one, bro.
But yeah with that being said, most of the VN opening videos are comprised mostly of CG with various visual effects that are used very well and skillfully. But keeping that in mind that's pretty much where most of the CG work comes in. The actual VN game scenes are all hand drawn and vectored material, including the backgrounds. As for the animated series, the individual episodes are comprised of 1/3rd CG and 2/3rds of drawn material, since it'd take too long to use movie quality visual effects and materials for each episode. But each episode still looks great and ef is a rather short series (the first season was only 12 episodes). Naru Nanao does all the character designs as well as the backgrounds featured in the VN and anime while the visual effects specialists at Minori do all the CG work to bring out the beauty.
I tend to reference her artwork a lot for drawings. Especially her character designs.
