The problem with 4.0 is that if you step Marathons (songs that are more than 5 minute long), after you're finished the chart, the first half will be okay but the second half might fuck up and turn every note into a 64th making the second half off sync (e.g. My Spirit Will Go On. The ending is fucking hard to read)
Problem with 3.9 is that it doesn't support rolls, so it either crashes the program or reads a roll as a hold, which is plain retarded.
I'd've recommend 3.95, but the download link does not exist anywhere now (I'm lucky I downloaded it before 4.0 released), though there really isn't much a difference between 3.9 and 3.95, aside from roll support. So yeah, you'd both hate 3.95 and 4.0 either way.
