LOL and lol are accepted forms of abbreviation. No one writes A.M.D., even though it would still be correct. However, to write Amd would be incorrect under all scenarios.

In the sentance, only laugh is the first word, so only that is capitalized. Please read under proper ways of writing Scuba and Radar at the start of the sentance on some english grammer website.

Radar is a different case, as it became a recognized English word, losing its original capitalization (RADAR). The same thing happened to scuba. LOL is not an accepted English word, however, and only exists in any dictionary as an abbreviation.
