Seeing as I failed Math, I'm forced to stay back a semester.
Not even going to bother with my application since my marks are shit, I don't have 6 U/M level courses (only have 5 since I took Grade 11 Comm. Tech.) and I don't have enough credits to graduate this year.

I don't know if I passed the exam.
I know for sure I passed the course because I went in with a 79.9% average, I have to have at least a 55.93% average.
I had about 78.6% for Chemistry, 76% final mark for Engineering. Time to rip Physics and Calculus.

I didn't actually pick up my report card and shit, but rather chilled in room 112 and checked my mixes on those awesome monitors.

Online grades are awesome. Course | Q1 | Q2 | Midterm | AP Statistics | 93 A | 88 B+ | 80 B- | AP Calculus | 99 A+ | 97 A+ | 100 A+ | AP European History | 82 B- | 85 B | -- | English IV Academic | 85 B | 89 A- | 83 B | AP Physics | 86 B | 89 B+ | 97 A+ |
Euro midterm isn't graded yet, Physics Q2 grade likely to rise to 94 due to extra credit, Physics midterm to rise to 98 or so due to grading error, and Calculus Q2 grade does not take into account a notebook grade. Grades close Monday. The English 89 shows up as an A- for some reason, also. Edit: Euro midterm also counts towards Q2.

So I got some shit from Loyalist. I was expecting that though. They seem like a pretty easy place to get into, although their broadcasting programs are apparently also pretty good.

Today I got a bunch of stuff from University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT).
Got a package from the Faculty of Science research report, shows all the currently working profs, grad students, and any research papers they have written and also a summary of UOIT's current work. They have a lot of interesting work there, but to highlight a few:
- Amorphous semiconductors for solar energy conversion - Refrigerant design; hydrogen production from nuclear sourced steam - Forensic taphonomy and decomposition chemistry; forensic science - Neurotransmitter receptors in parasitic nematodes - Signaling molecules in cancer and other cell lines - Environmental microbiology and environmental genomics - Efficient algorithms for scientific computation - Proton exchange membrane (PEM) hydrogen fuel cell modeling - Computational quantum physics of the solid state - Virtual reality and 3D graphics - Bifurcation analysis of large scale systems with applications to flow transition in geo-physical fluids - Molecular simulation methodology development and applications - Mathematical modeling of Czochralski grown semi-conductors - Optical characterization in semiconductor growth technology - Experimental and theoretical studies for photovoltaic materials - Multiscale modeling of laser-matter interactions - Nano-scale polyatomic-system theoretical design and characterization Reading this list makes me want to attend even more, even though I only got into Computing Science (everyone and their mother can get into this). If I do go I might switch majors. Also there is this open house thing they invited to me because apparently I am a high achieving academic student (with an average in the 70s? My ass). I get a free dinner out of it, and get to check out the Faculty of Science; I'll probably go. The accepted me pretty early and they are giving me all this shit; they must really want more students to attend UOIT.

This is some stuff I learned after researching the whole mobile computing thing at UOIT. Explained everything important in a convo with Daryl.
(02:07:35) Daryl: Is it a good laptop? (02:07:52) Mohamdu: They only give you a refund if you aren't taking a full year, and some money is deducted. If you are a full year student, there is no refund at the end of your school year. (02:14:53) Daryl: You're typing way too much. (02:15:04) Mohamdu: I'll give you the specs, it is a Thinkpad T61p 2.4GHz, T8300 DuoCore2 Processor,Vista Basic, 2GB RAM depending on program, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, 15.4" WSXGA+ (1680x1024) display, Multi-burner (CD, DVD), Nvidia Quadro FX5 70M Discrete Graphics (256mb), built in wireless, they give you a modem it seems, PC Card and smart card slot, Fingerprint reader, 3yr warranty (1yr on Battery), Network cable (7' Cat 6) given, optional 4-in-1 non commercially available upgrade, Laptop backpack/bag given. There is also a lot of included software that is given to you, in total depending on the program valued up to $3000. A lot of maintenance fees included as well as insurance on the laptop valued over $5000, all included. They charge you around $1500-1700 on the laptop depending on which program you take. (02:15:30) Daryl: ...All that with Vista Basic? (02:15:32) Mohamdu: Also that price is per year, and the example used is first year Chemistry from the Faculty of Science. Computing Science the brochure doesn't show. (02:15:43) Mohamdu: Yeah. (02:16:27) Daryl: I don't get why they did that. (02:17:39) Mohamdu: It says here that for 4 years, if you were to pay for this by retail price, it would cost you $11355.90, and for a 4 year program at UOIT you'll end up paying $6131.60. So you save about 46%. I am guessing because it is the cheapest available Vista OS, but with all that other awesome shit they give you it does seem like giving you something better wouldn't be so bad. (02:18:12) Mohamdu: Also they replace the model used every 2 years. So two years from after entering the program or earlier, you will be using a better laptop, maybe even with Windows 7. (02:18:48) Daryl: Windows 7 Basic. (02:18:52) Mohamdu: Pretty much.

The T61p is Lenovo's last generation ThinkPad, but it was a high end workstation model, as obviously shown through the specs. The W500's been around for half a year now though, so I'm not sure what makes them favour the T61p; they're both thick and heavy monsters (you'll love it).
