I just call my hardware stuff like the Dimension 4600, the MDG, the Powerbook, the A210, the Cruzer 8gig, the Staples 512meg, the SanDisk Sansa 2gig, etc. Ashes is called either 'Cat' or 'the cat', but more often than not, 'you stupid motherfucking cat'.

Because obviously hardware doesn't have a sex. I've never understood people who refer to their cars or boats as 'she' or something because it's a fucking car/boat. As for Ashes I will refer to her as a 'she' if she is being referred to in third person, such as the case in this sentence. It would be retarded to refer to something with sexual organs or gender as being an 'it' because that's just a poor way of referring to something; I hate when people refer to people with ambiguous or mixed sexual organs as being "it" or "heshe" because more often than not those people have a specific gender they identify with.

And don't tell me your hardware has a gender because that's bullshit.

rofl... that definitely stands out as being a gender. But I think it would just make English too formal if we started referring to male plugs as being 'he' instead of 'it'.
