Dying Grandfather. He was admitted to the hospital last month. He passed away at 4:37pm today. Looks like I'm attending another funeral.

Funeral Home ceremony begins Sunday morning so I'll pretty much be gone the entire day. The actual burying will take place on Tuesday which is also the day of my Birthday.
But according to Chinese religion and tradition, it's extremely bad luck if I were to attend the funeral on the day of my birthday, therefore most likely I'll be attending school and staying home instead of leaving at 5am to go to a cemetery.
lol I'll be the only person in my entire family not attending the burial. Am I a bad person?

That's a pretty fucked up coincidence. A different day would not have sufficed?

Unfortunately, no. Chinese funerals are very different from traditional ones.
There are "Good" and "Bad" days. Coincidentally, Sunday and Tuesday are the closest "Good" days (since my whole family wants the funeral to be held ASAP). Monday and days after Tuesday are considered "Bad" days, according to Old Chinese Monks or whatever. Every Chinese funeral needs a Monk in order for the funeral to even take place and considering that the majority of my family is Buddhist, they really believe in the Monks.
But the rituals and routines in Chinese funerals all remain the same, so I'll pretty much be doing the exact same stuff as I did at my Grandmother's funeral in December'07. (e.g. burning papers and incense, various praying sessions, etc.)

Kinda makes me wonder what my funeral would be like. Having two different sides makes things strange.

Well just got home from the Funeral Home.
Tuesday I'm not attending the Funeral due to Chinese superstitions, religion, etc. However, I can't attend school that day either for the exact same fact.
Pro. I get to stay home on my birthday.

Half my family lives in Thailand and barely knows the white side. Thinking about, they probably wouldn't show up anyways though.
