That took about 2 hours with Adobe After Effects, with Trapcode Particular for the volumetric particles (the particular particles I used didn't support depth of field though, making it look odd). I realize after rendering that I should have set the particle life higher as some of them were disappearing at the end. Oh well, I really just did this to mask how lame the pictures are.
