Dell XPS 420 Before Overclock After The weird clock speeds are because of the motherboard. The first screenshot, the CPU actually goes up to 2.4 GHz when 1.5 GHz has been reached. Now, the CPU goes to 3.0 GHz when 2.0 GHz has been reached. This is because of speedstep because Dell is retarded and put a laptop feature into a desktop.

I will only put the overclocked result on the chart if that's how it will be used from now on. Otherwise, the stock result will be posted.
SpeedStep is a feature built into the CPU itself by Intel. However, you should be able to disable SpeedStep through the BIOS. If not, Dell is retarded.

It is a permanent overclock. Do you really think Dell would let you overclock? We did that "joining the pins" trick.
Yeah we can disable SpeedStep. Right now, it is being a ho.

There's CPUFSB though, which let me push the OptiPlex pretty far before it gave up.
Nevertheless, nice. What are the temperatures like? I am intrigued by this.
That thing better have sensors.

It remains the same temperature. Also it only works with the Q6600.

The Q6700 can do it, along with some other models.
The power consumption also increases dramatically, and so should the heat output.
