I actually wish there were hipsters at Waterloo, I think the vast majority of them don't apply here out of fear or something. So maybe it's like 2% hipsters? I dunno. But instead of mass hipsters we have fobs who can't speak English yet somehow are perfectly literate in it, which comprise like 60% of the student body.

are there hipsters? and yeah in cs I am pretty much used to being surrounded by chinese/korean/indian/paki/arab kids who barely speak english, although the canadianized ones are pretty cool

Yeah there are a few. They are usually like, History or Art majors. lol
it's kind of stereotypical but every hipster I have met at Waterloo has fallen in either or those majors.
