I want to know what kinds of headphones people prefer to use, when/where they prefer to use them. Tyler I remember as an audiophile so he should post something. I use these things when I'm outside because I can barely hear shit with them on, sound good, are portable, the speakers are detachable, the in-ear thing can be placed with a whole ton of different materials and sizes. Headphones make me feel like that time when I was a kid and had braces and had to wear headgear attached to my teeth while I slept to make them look reasonable. But I'd be open to the idea of getting a pair for listening to music at home kind of thing.

I have a pair of these things: www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-250-80-Professional-Closed-Headphones/dp/B0002V9EA4Excellent headphones. Slightly warm, comfortable although potentially fatiguing after prolonged use, and interchangeable pads with the Sony MDR-7506: www.amazon.ca/Sony-Mdr7506-Professional-Diaphragm-Headphone/dp/B000AJIF4EAnother excellent pair of headphones I own. Brighter than the DT 250-80 but not as revealing. Both headphones will be able to bring out compression and encoding differences, but the Beyerdynamics will do it more clearly. Very comfortable pair of headphones. Durable enough that most music stores use them for listening booths. They can fold up for portability if you give zero fucks about wearing full size headphones outdoors. I also have an Apple headset for travelling on the bus or subway or whatever. Full size headphones are generally annoying to bring around and block out the outside world too much which can be detrimental in transit. They sound mediocre but I don't really care.

alright I think I'm mostly done with these now they were a decent pair in terms of sound quality and making the treble sound detailed, but the bass left something to be desired and it got really uncomfortable after a short while, kinda saddening. bought this piece of shit today, it sounded kind of crap out of the box but after letting it burn in overnight and stuff it sounds pretty detailed. I think I own an actually 'decent' pair of cans now, not audiophile-tier (would have to drop like $400 probably to get that) but still fucking gorgeous sound. Good for commuting and just wearing for long periods of time in general. Comfy as fuck considering it's closed backs. this slider is great because you can make it sound analytical as fuck or open up and Beats by Dre mode, except it doesn't sound like dicks. Or just open up like 1 or 2 and have it sound somewhere inbetween. The leakage is kind of heavy in open mode but at that point I'm too busy listening amalgamating with sound to give a fuck. I want to get a custom faceplate with the cover of 'Pulse Demon' on it. Does anyone else have songs they always benchmark cans with? I use this one. Especially right around/after 2:30 www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcw0y_-llhg&feature=youtu.be&t=2m30sany time that part actually sounds good, I'll consider the cans.

I've been using this lately to PA's and line arrays: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkjKsLlt7PUI also have a whole playlist of mixes that I know should sound a certain way, covering a wide variety of genres for this purpose.
