this thread is dedicated to the man who invented music, masami akita here's some of his better songs out of his 300 or so albums here's a badass merzbow remix merzbow once released a compilation album called the merzbox. it was 50 hours long here is akita live notice how he's actually sawing through a piece of wood in the middle of the concert and here are some heartfelt interviews where akita describes who he is and where his art comes from here is a short list of some of the albums that merzbow has created that begin with 'merz' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzbearen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzbeaten.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzbirden.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzboxen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzbuddhaen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzbutaen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzphysicsen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzzowen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merzbienten.wikipedia.org/wiki/MerzmorphosisOne particular album was used to create the Merzcar, a Merzedes-Benz 230 that was modified to have the album Noisembryo playing from it at all times as soon as the car is started, at max volume. There was no way to stop the album from playing. Eventually the car broke down, sadly, despite being auctioned for $1m as a limited edition release of Noisembryo, limited to one (1) edition. akita was also the subject of being in kevin "4everalone" griffin's music related comic series, "3 chord dorks" also despite how his music sounds, apparently he really hates eating meat this was one of his album covers here he is showing how much he hates kfc and here he is showing how much he loves chickens and that's all i got he is 56 years old and still has a wonderfully active career. his music has touched the hearts of millions over the course of his 35 years of activity.

found this awesome documentary vimeo.com/68339199to me there is something almost ironic about a man whose sound has such a reputation for being so harsh and aggressive having such a soft spoken and quiet way of talking. I don't think I ever heard him speak before watching this. also a great interview www.esoterra.org/merzbow.htm"Pornography is the unconsciousness of sex. So, Noise is the unconsciousness of music. It's completely misunderstood if Merzbow is music for men. Merzbow is not male or female. Merzbow is erotic like a car crash can be related to genital intercourse. The sound of Merzbow is like Orgone energy-- the color of shiny silver."

I would highly recommend checking out this specific scene vimeo.com/68339199#at=46mit features a real hara kiri video (one of the first ever recorded), after which Merzbow discusses his time spent as a youth studying historical pornography and eventually collaborating with his mentor to make pornographic suicide videos with suicidal actresses and models. The previous scene is good too, as Merzbow discusses how pornography in Japan changed over time after WW2 and the rise of S&M, which he later heavily incorporated into his music.
