I would say God Bless Hirohiko Araki, but the truth is God blessed Araki enough. Now it's Araki's turn to bless us with his infinite talent. Part 6 coming up, everybody move the fuck out of the way best girl coming through. Jolyne Kujo's anime arc BETTER start with her fingerfucking herself in prison. Our girl needs to be displayed for the freak she is!  The honest to god truth is having read the manga, I am constantly struck but how much worse the artwork of the anime is. Sadly the immortal truth of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure will always be that for all it's brilliant original music compilations, excellently animated OPs and perfectly selected EDs by the hands of Araki himself, there is no way the anime can ever, objectively, be better than the manga. It just can't. It's an insurmountable task. You can climb Mount Everest. You cannot make better artwork than what Araki put on the page. It's why I honestly still haven't watched parts 4 or 5, despite loving the manga arcs as well as every other arc. Pucci is the best fucking villain, you will see what a bad nigga this flagrant homosexual is.  I'd also like to admit I was wrong here. I honestly think even in the year of KLK, Zankyou no Terror, Mushishi 2, Ping Pong and Keroro that JoJo Part 3 will end up being anime of the year. Had I paid more attention to it at the time maybe I'd have realized that Studio Triggers' magnum opus was being dropped. Of course KLK has vastly better animation and is a more lasting story than part 1 of Stardust Crusaders. That first part was okay/10 but obvious the second part is better. Ryuko and Satsuki... I kneel.  It feels so fucking weird having no one give a shit about JJBA when I was at the peak of my obsession with the series and now seeing it become mainstream and known to a bunch of zoomers for memes. At the same time I am glad that Araki is surely catching a fat cheque due to the anime's success. Still, watching these anime episodes just makes me feel like rereading the manga. Seriously, I've been a fan of this series for about 8 years now. It started out as very rough fan made translations and now has official translations for almost every arc, English dubs for the anime. It has gone from being just huge in Japan to now having worldwide success. I have no desire to brag about being on the train earlier than anyone else, nor have I any right to; there are salarymen in Japan who read Phantom Blood in the 80s on the Tokyo subway. JJBA and Dragon Ball are pretty much hard tied for greatest manga/anime of all-time. Thanks for everything, Araki-sensei!  |
