there was once a time when people knew how to advertise games
ps2 ads were pretty much a breakthrough in bizarre and surreal art as well as viral marketing. shame that sony doesn't bother anymore. note that they realized that nothing about the advertisements had to do with video games in order for it to be marketed well. ps2 has sold more than any other console ever produced.
the old ps1 era ads pulled no punches either

it still sometimes happens in modern times, but marketing has changed
