if i was you i would just get a monitor that has a higher refresh rate. Slightly above 1080p games in 120fps+ > 4k games in 60fps.

It's a shitty TN panel, that's why they're so cheap. Canada Computers on Burnhamthorpe has them and they look like shit compared to the 2560x1440 IPS panels.

yeah that's so true, IPS monitors are great. the one I'm using is a 1080p IPS monitor I got for like $200 bucks a few years back. I used to get sore eyes from staring at a screen for a long time, IPS somehow is very easy on your eyes and let's you distinguish things clearly. apparently a lot of progamers prefer IPS monitors.
personally I find framerate > resolution. until they get reasonably priced tvs and monitors with higher refresh rates than 60Hz, i'm not really interested in 4k.
except that 4k porn. that shit makes the purchase seem almost worthwhile.

The Dell UltraSharp U2713HM can be had for $518 and is a fantastic monitor. 2560x1440 IPS panel, VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, 4 port USB 3.0 hub, and a rotating stand. There's also the ASUS equivalent which is cheaper but uses PLS instead of IPS and lacks the USB 3 ports.
