just look at this man reminiscing about his youth. he probably spent all day working hard to build up the crummy cafe shop he still works at to this day. And then this asshole young kid, who he out of the graciousness of his heart let live upstairs in his attic, brings home an entire harem of angry young women all ready to fight over who gets to fuck him.

So I jumped the gun and imported this game about a month ago, been increasing my Japanese literacy in the process. Basically I've been playing the hell out of it, I think I'm at 146 hours now. This is the only good JRPG I've played in like 5 years.



I admit it this game choked me up. I can't say many video games (if any) have ever done that. I haven't ever been this emotionally invested in a game. Not only is the gameplay better than every previous Persona/SMT game, the storyline is much darker. Literally the main character is moved to Tokyo because he was falsely accused of being a juvenile sex offender. You have stuff like internet hacker groups commit acts of economic sabotage, school teachers who beat their students and sexually harass the girls, mob members who extort money out of bums in Tokyo, people committing mass fraud and plagiarism. I am amazed by how good the story is, how well designed the dungeons are, how catchy the soundtrack is. The Boss fights are just straight up ludicrous too. I'm almost sure when this game comes out in the West it will be hailed as one of, if not the best JRPG ever made.

Any plans on getting Royal?

I've considered it but maybe when it goes on sale years from now. P5 is still such a fresh experience in my mind I am reserved on the idea of getting it. Maybe if I become nostalgic for P5 I'll get the potential Switch port or PC version since all Sony exclusives seem to be getting bartered off left right and center. For now I'm content with every few months going back to listen to that Shoji Meguro OST.



Also I'd like to state for the record that while I maintain that P5 is one of the greatest JRPGs of all time, I believe in ATLUS and that Shin Megami Tensei V will surpass it, because SMT is always GOAT tier as fuck. Also SMTIV was better than every Persona game until P5 dropped. Also Nier Automata is the greatest action JRPG of all-time, maybe best overall.

Anyhow, this is now a Shin Megami Tensei V hype thread.
