If I made a new server for the current version of Minecraft would there be any interest in it? It would be a new blank world, as I can't find any way to easily convert the classic maps.

I might join if I honestly have no other games to play, although updating all my shit for compatibility will be a pain in the ass. I assume you'd be running for the most part a vanilla survival server?
The last time I played, I was using the 1.7.10 build on my friend's private server. It was fun to play with buddies up until the point where one of them built an enderman exp farm in the end, which made you go from level 0 to 30 in less than 2 minutes by clicking.
