I downloaded conky and a bunch of scripts, configured them to read from my dcopserver and also the rss feeds for the Toronto Star and Arch Linux and then programmed a the conky configuration you see in the bottom right. This was a lot of fun to make, and it is pretty fun to watch my network speeds fluctuate, watch my processes fight each other, and also to see how hard my computer is crashing when the CPU use starts to increase.

I have changed a few things here as you can see, right now I am using fluxbox as my default desktop environment and window manager as opposed to the previously depicted xfce4 desktop environment. Also, I have changed the news to showing OSnews and also some scientific articles, because I don't use Arch Linux any more and I don't like the Toronto Star. I think I want to add more things to it but I am not sure what; any ideas?

Fluxbox reminds me of this Blackbox clone I used to use with my old Compaq for performance reasons. I forget which one it was though.

What is there to get? Fluxbox is a desktop environment, conky is an information display.
