You have to have it.
A real shutter sound, that is.
There is a magic to taking pictures with an SLR camera. With the usual consumer camera, you get some shitty WAV clip of something that sounds nothing like a camera, the screen goes black before the shutter actually opens, and in double the time of the actual exposure, you get your image on the LCD.
With an SLR, pressing the shutter release instantly flips the mirror and opens the shutter, bringing black to the viewfinder for the exact duration of the exposure. Not only can you hear the distinct noise of the mirror flapping from one angle to another, but the snapping movement can also be felt in your hands, in conjunction to seeing the mirror flip in the viewfinder. Everything comes together to indicate the successful capture of your target. It evokes the feeling that you've just taken a fucking amazing picture, and seeing as you're using an SLR, you probably have.
A lack of indication leads to failure.

My Kodak EasyShit has feel to the shutter. Even the focus vibrates.

There's a very slight twitch to your camera, but this thing delivers a solid rocking. You know you've taken a picture. I might blow my load if I fire off a long burst.
Side note: It's also confusing and annoying as hell to your subject when they can't hear a picture being taken.

Yeah, that's true. But most people are faggots and use flash.

Flash destroys a picture under almost all circumstances. It is only useful in very specific and specialized scenarios, or in addition to flooded studio lighting.

That's with umbrella things and huge lights. Normal flash is retarded.
