Exactly. Being a king, this is my preferred strategy.

Being a king, you don't have a strategy. You can only move one space in any direction.

Yeah, all the way until you are lured into a corner, and cannot move anywhere else.

Well, I know my team had no chance of moving out of the spawn point, so perhaps they are the kings instead.
