nice photos. In other news, got another interview scheduled for this Friday at some packaging production plant. This is a prospective employer as well since it's a fairly decent sized firm (30+ employees) with potential for more opportunities. so as a follow up with this, the company is run by only chinks and one of the first questions I was asked was whether I spoke mandarin chinese (which I don't, I speak cantonese). I was interrogated by a couple of workers, both of whom spoke english fluently, before seeing the manager of the company, who spoke broken english with a thick chinese accent. overall, I was sitting there for a good 20 minutes with the first two guys, before speaking with the manager lady for less than 5 minutes. initially when the manager lady walked in, she started speaking to me in mandarin, in which I responded with, "sorry, I don't understand." she then replied with, "oh I thought you were chinese" in a really condescending way, lol. I guess the part that I found amusing was that this place was located right beside dan's previous workplace. yeah, I don't expect a phone call from them tbh but I guess it doesn't really matter when I'm heading back to p3 anyways

You could try to get another job that you can do online and then do that while you're at this job doing nothing and get paid for both at the same time.

When I was a hotel representative I couldn't find an online job, so I started trading Bitcoins. Made maybe $500 in the end.

congrats on getting your job back basically here's the quick rundown of why I quit: i'm a fulltime college student (which I explained to them) but they still wanted me to come in like 36 hours a week, ALWAYS at 4AM or 3:30AM, never any variation (which was something they didn't make clear to me the first few weeks). then they got pissed at me when I asked them for less hours (because I literally had no time for civil engineering shit, which is more important). they gave me immensely more responsibilities than anyone else in my paygrade. i was the only gatekeeper in the entire store, they wanted me to train a second gatekeeper after less than a month of doing my job. and on that note, the only way I could learn my job is from this one really old brown guy (who was the ONLY person in the shop who really understood how to use the shipment deviation software and taught me everything), and basically they hired me to do everything this old guy was tired of doing after 12 years of being at IKEA. Basically I could ask none of my superiors for help on doing my job, because none of them knew how to do my job. basically if that old guy wasn't there or busy, I was kinda fucked if I had a question. the list of shit they wanted me to do was just steadily growing. for $13/h, these people wanted me to not only take pictures inside the truck and edit them on the computer, they wanted me to have email correspondence with a bunch of the quality control people in the shop, they wanted me constantly checking and rechecking the stocks using the inventory software (another thing no one but people getting paid $10/h more than me seemed to know how to use), they wanted me to then be responsible for all damages and pretty much have my own workstation keeping track of all shipment deviations for the next 36 hours, fix mistakes made by other people from last week. and all this while I'm mostly spending time on the cold ass dock helping out the truck drivers while occasionally stopping to take photos inside the truck. they were constantly talking about more jobs to give me. the day I quit they held a meeting where I was the only person in the meeting who wasn't a manager, lead manager or assistant manager. essentially the entire meeting was them all discussing a bunch of shit they wanted me to do, a bunch of extra things I needed to be trained to do, etc. it was just stupid. then when I asked them for a raise (because I couldn't rationalize to myself why I was traveling to Vaughan in the middle of the night when I had college projects to work on and doing all this shit at 4am for $13/h), they gave me some long spiel about how they don't want to undercut someone but they feel like me asking for less hours and then a raise is unfair, IKEA promotes the idea of taking on a larger workload to prove your ready for more, i still have a bunch of evaluations to go through etc etc and I just straight up told them I could guarantee ANY gatekeeper they trained would ask for more money given what they're asking. basically now I know they're fucked because they have to spend another month or more training this guy to do my job, and they wanted me to teach him how to do it because besides that one old guy, no one knew what the fuck they were doing in terms of quality or damage control. and pretty much the entire receiving quality control department would consist of me and whoever they wanted me to train. so yeah, fuck ikea but seriously the one thing I'll miss about that place is the gravadlax there's something great about smoked salmon and mustard sauce in the morning i'm not worried about a job i'll just work in my brother's boot warehouse if I can't find anything engineering related by the time summer rolls around.

Psh, I was riding though the thick of it in a shitty Chevy Express cutaway van, no biggie. The brand new winter tires we put on it are pretty fucking amazing though, totally planted to the road. Hankook i-Pikes if anyone's in the market for winter tires. I'm somewhat tempted to replace my mediocre Toyo Observes with them but I still have a lot of tread left on three of them.

re-adjusting to work procedures today was fairly smooth—I thought I had forgotten a whole bunch of shit after being gone for 3 months. guess the only thing I need to get a swing of is pricing for quotations since I either don't remember the exact figures I used for certain jobs. that or the charges have gone up since the beginning of this year and I might mistakenly use old pricing.
guess I'll update within the month to see how things turn out. I'm inevitably going to be shifted to part-time, so I guess it's a matter of whether business is booming enough to keep me in my full-time seat longer than I expect. I'm fine with part-time work here considering that I got a pay raise, I'm working a second job, and I freelance on the side whenever shit comes up. and I hate to admit that having more days off would be a pretty sweet deal at the cost of making less money of course.
I should be keeping an eye out for other full-time positions though, just in case.

Guess I should update on my situation here, since a few things are happening with me.
· I landed a new full-time job as a design specialist at a bigger and better print company. 40 hours a week, higher wage, full benefit coverage, non-franchised company, and in the Mississauga Square One area. I start in a couple weeks. · I handed in my letter of resignation to P3. My boss was "happy for [me], but disappointed." · Working my last few shifts for P3 next week (final countdown commenced). Boss is scrambling to find a replacement candidate, lol.
