ca.ign.com/articles/2016/06/28/overwatch-becomes-koreas-most-popular-internet-cafe-gameglad to see this finally coming through, I had faith the Koreans would eventually choose to adopt Overwatch over other games. By this time next year, I predict Overwatch will be the biggest eSport on Earth, bigger than League, Dota, CS and the fighting game community. All the major eSport clubs have already formed Overwatch teams. As of right now these are the heroes I primarily roll with: Genji, Symmetra, Dva, Pharah, Bastion, Junkrat

Maybe it's only so popular because it's new. You'll have to wait a while to see if people actually stick around.
It seems casual enough that it will stay popular, but won't make for a good e-Sport (FPS already doesn't really make for a good spectator sport), so I doubt it will take over as the top e-Sport. It doesn't seem like it will be a good competitive game.

i've said this before and i'll say it again: the game has a higher skill ceiling than starcraft and league. if you play like shit, you lose, end of story. this isn't mario kart. you use your ultimates like shit, you'll lose. really my biggest fear is people dropping the game because the skill ceiling is too high. in public matches at low levels, yes it will be scrub vs scrub, when you get up to higher levels people actually know how to play and can quickly stomp new playerrs. the competitive mode is up on ptr and already seems to be designed a lot better for tournaments than quick play. Luckily though, Koreans generally have a good taste in games so they've already decided to flock to it.
really the biggest flaw the game has is balancing all the heroes and getting new maps (which they've said is coming some time during the summer or end of the year). certain character compositions have dominated the metagame for some time, also zenyatta has been severely underused.
just hurry up and buy the game so i can hear you admit you're wrong. you know you will eventually.

How is it for watching? Will it keep people's interest? Competitive FPS has always seemed pretty niche compared to other e-Sports.
I had some interest in the game a while ago, but then I watched a video of someone playing it and lost whatever interest I had. I might check it out if it's still popular in six months and goes on sale. As of now, I'd only really buy the game so I could fap to D.Va and Mei.

Day of the rope will come for weeaboo degenerates. I predict you'll have spent your hard earned cash on Overwatchâ„¢ before then though. There's been a very clear upwards trend in Overwatch viewership worldwide since the game came out, plus they pretty much destroyed any chance of Battleborn having a market. Over 11 million copies sold so far and the numbers just keep going up. They just patched the game to have ranked mode, so soon eSports clubs will start recruiting more of the top players on ladder. Here is some porn for you: i.imgur.com/ZyrpnTi.mp4also you're stupid tens of thousands of people watch CS and CoD every day. If anything Overwatch has caused a huge boost in interest in FPS games. The sold over $269million dollars of just loot boxes on top of game sales in the month of May.

Honestly I find League boring to watch and more fun to actually play, and CS:GO more fun to watch than play, and I absorb at both so it's not a skill thing. As Mohamdu pointed out, FPS is still huge and always has been.

I've always found any game I didn't actually play to be boring to watch. I don't really watch StarCraft anymore since I don't play anymore, and only watch LoL if Koreans are playing.
